It’s been one month since I asked, “Should Tarot Eon have a Forum?”
63 people voted on this poll and 52 voted yes.
But what does that mean?
It simply means that I’m going to go ahead with the forum. I’m still not sure when I’ll launch because I’m still in the process of fixing potential long–term problems. As things stand I would hope to have this project up and running within a month.
This forum will be a place where people can get help … and give help.
Tarot Eon is a small blog with a small community of Tarot enthusiasts. I want to keep it that way. This forum is not meant to rival other big Tarot forums. Rather, it will be a small place that will be used to fulfill a specific purpose — a practical place that solves problems.
More on that later.
In the meantime, I’ve enjoyed using polls and would like to have a poll running every month on Tarot related subjects (such as, “do you read with reversed Tarot cards” etc). I’ll leave the current poll running for the next day or two before I launch a brand new one. Any suggestions?

I’m sorry to hear that your forum has declined. It’s certainly a concern for those of us with smaller interests. It is my hope that the Tarot Eon forum supports the blog and not the other way round. My intention has always been that the forum can provide a place for further discussions, amongst other things, but to always be secondary to the blog.
I sincerely hope things improve for you on your own forum.

Enjoy your site greatly, and voted Indifferent in the poll, as I don’t seek it out here, but know some visitors really want it. Still, I thought I’d expand on my thoughts, as I really do enjoy your site -
Inclusions of a forum can bring all the benefits that several readers have noted, but it can also be a major drag to an otherwise successful, enjoyable experience. I think the real question becomes about how much time you as the site operator are willing to spend on monitoring a forum.
Even with the best of intentions, forums all too easily become bitching boards, wherein folks let fly negative, tedious opinions, resulting in back and forth flame wars, and whatever positive contributions might actually appear become drowned out. It often becomes too much work to wade through and overlook the negative comments to find the useful ones.
Just my thoughts – of course, anyone who doesn’t want to read such things can just not go to them, but you have such a great vibe going here, I just wondered if you’re able to keep it going on forums as well.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate your honesty. I’m aware of all of the points you raised and have considered them carefully.
I’m committed to putting in the time required to ensure a pleasant experience on the forum. I can’t promise that things will go 100% smoothly, as I’ll be learning as I go along. But what I can promise is that I’ll do my best. I’m as protective over the vibe on this blog as anyone else is, the blog is my primary focus and will remain so.
The blog is the community and not the forum. A community of support already exists here at Tarot Eon – inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. People who upset the spirit of this community will have their accounts deleted. That may sound harsh, but I agree with you that negativity is unacceptable.

Long time no see. I’ve been busy writing and living life…but I’ve missed talking about tarot and oracles so I’ve started spending some time with them again. Always enjoyed your site….Did you ever get around to deveoping the forums? I think they’d be an awesome way to share things!
